BONER, JOHN HENRY.
Born in Salem, North Carolina, 1845; died in Washington, D.C.,
1903. Mr. Boner spent his early youth in journalism in Salem
and Asheville, North Carolina, leaving this work to become Chief
Clerk of the North Carolina House of Representatives. Later he
entered the civil service at Washington, where he remained until
the "Literary Digest" and other periodicals. In his
last years he reentered bureau work in Washington. His volume
of poems, "Whispering Pines," was published in 1883. |
