DAYS THAT COME AND GO

by: John Vance Cheney (1848-1922)

      AYS that come and go,
      It is not worth the while;
      Only one dawn I know,
      The morning of her smile.

      Nights that come and go,
      In vain your shadow lies;
      Only love's dusk I know,
      The evening of her eyes.

"Days That Come and Go" is reprinted from The Little Book of American Poets. Ed. Jessie B. Rittenhouse. Cambridge: The Riverside Press, 1915.
