JUAN DE MENA
was born at Cordoba, where his father was regidor. After travelling in Italy he returned to Spain and became Latin Secretary to Juan II. He was a great favorite of this monarch and died at Torrelaguna. He was the leading poet of his time being called "The Spanish Ennius." His principal poem, El Laberinto,
imitates the scheme of Dante's Commedia. El Laberinto
also known as Las Trezientas, was published by M.R. Foulché-Delbosc
