STODDARD, ELIZABETH. Born in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, May 6, 1823;
died in New York City, August 1, 1902. Mrs. Stoddard was the
wife of Richard Henry Stoddard, the poet, and their home in New
York was for many years a center for the literary life of the
city. Mrs. Stoddard was a frequent contributor of poetry to the
magazines and wrote several novels. Her complete poems were issued
in 1895.
